Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses Franchise

Bakery/Cafe

Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses is an Aussie story 115 years in the making. Starting in Melbourne in 1901, the Ferguson & Plarre families rose to bakery fame thanks to their enduring commitment to quality, quality that has seen them serving cakes to Queen of England and even the President of the United States. Today, Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses is still a family owned and operated business and has become one of Australias most successful bakery franchise stories. One their secrets is that they remain passionate foodies at heart. The Plarre family bake fresh all of their own products and maintain 100% control of ingredient and recipe quality, something that is increasingly rare in multi-site bakery-cafes. While some products, like their baked cheesecake, are based on 100 year old recipes others are fresh and new like their red velvet cupcakes. In addition to award winning products, Ferguson Plarre works tirelessly to ensure its espresso offering is one of the best in the market. Ultimately, the business is based on the same simple principles on which it was founded: amazing product, service and experience that when done properly leaves you feeling like you've just had a warm hug. Remember, great food touches the soul.

Business Model

With over 60 stores across Australia, we have a lot of experience and we've found that keeping simplicity at the forefront of process makes it easier for our franchisees to achieve the success they are looking for. The franchisees we look for love spending time with people, they get to know their customers and develop relationships with their local communities. To facilitate this, we make sure we look after everything else. The way it works couldn't be easier: ~We make the cakes and savouries fresh daily ~We deliver them directly to your store ~You sell them with a big smile and an amazing cup of coffee (after we've helped to train you into an amazing barista) That's it!

Future Plans

With a 110 year old brand that has survived two World Wars and the Great Depression, we've got a fine appreciation for what it means to be in business for the long haul. With a strategic brand review recently completed and research revealing an incredible brand loyalty, Ferguson Plarre is expanding its reach throughout Victoria and more recently interstate (under the Puckles brand in QLD, distribution model). A strong focus on digital marketing channels has seen our new website launched in 2013 with full e-commerce functionality, giving our franchisees a shop-front on every customers PC and mobile device 24/7. Bakery is one of the oldest businesses on the planet so growth will come from innovation via both technology and product development. And finally, no business is any fun if you don't enjoy working with the people inside it, so Ferguson Plarre is committed to remaining a family business with a passion for food that you won't find anywhere but in your Ferguson Plarre store.

Testimonials

It is easy to run with my family and it is not 24 hours work.

Nader - Tullamarine Melbourne, VIC

Great back up support from the franchisee.

George Dellaportas - Altona VIC

Everything is discussed in detail, everything is done for you. Brand name, stability.

Ainsley White - Patterson Lakes, VIC

It's definitely enjoyable operating a Ferguson Plarre franchise, especially when you feel you're a part of the brand.  From an investment point of view, I believe it takes a lot of hard work and commitment over a long period of time to make capital on what you outlayed on your business. In the current market investing in property is the better option, however it is an enjoyable way to earn your weekly keep. If it wasn't enjoyable I wouldn't recommend it.

Adrian Balik - Caroline Springs, VIC

Great brand, easy to operate business, no cooking.

Chetan Gorawara - Williamstown, VIC

After being with Ferguson Plarre for over two years, I can feel that I have been inside the franchise for decades. I have feelings that I am part of the family so I decide to bring my family (my sister) to join Ferguson Plarre  as a new franchisee.

Akram Ghatta - Endeavour Hills, VIC

The Franchisor I believe is genuine and cares about his franchisees' well being in the business. They will help you to succeed.

Pauline El Horri - Highett, VIC

I feel very supported within the franchise system. It allows me the ability to not only efficiently run my business but expand on ideas that will assist both the brand recognition and my business itself. I feel like coming into the business there has been a big shift in us and them. More of a focus on working alongside the franchisees to make their business more successful through handwork, execution, determination and overall support.

Amy-Lea Hoey - Hoppers Crossing, VIC

Support system is excellent. Product is a winner so easier to sell when you have great quality products.  Innovative and conscious of their environment, branding and reputation in the market place.

Rachael - VIC market, VIC

Todd Agius, a multi-site franchisee, with 2 stores in Craigieburn and was impressed by the positive communication channels between franchisees and head office, and the willingness to discuss ideas about the company moving forward!

"When considering joining Ferguson Plarre and then becoming a multi-unit franchisee, my decisions were highly influenced by the positive communication channels open between franchisees and the Plarre family and their accessibility and willingness to discuss ideas about the company going forward. I've always been able to share my thoughts and ideas and have forever had great confidence in our products. Consistency and competitive pricing have kept us ahead of the competition, whilst head office support and reliability from all departments, have ensured that I'm able to concentrate on maximizing my businesses potential."

I've been with the company for 14 years and my dedication to this brand grows stronger. Company direction has definitely taken a straighter path since the Plarre's took control and I have built some very respectful and important relationships along the way that have helped develop my skills as a franchisee as well as someone that would happily refer our business.

Todd Agius - Craigieburn Central, VIC
